The 5 main tabs
๐
My Team
Your roster, upcoming schedule, game history, and season stats. This is your home base between games. Everything about your team lives here.
โถ๏ธ
Log Game
The live game logging screen. You spend most of game day here โ player chips across the top, play buttons in the middle, scoreboard up top, and the play log below. Every tap logs a play and updates stats instantly.
๐
Stats
Full season leaderboard you can sort by any stat (TDs, flag pulls, interceptions, etc.), depth chart with reordering, and team offense and defense totals with per-game averages.
๐ฅ
League
League schedule and standings completely separate from your My Team schedule. Import the full 8-team schedule, invite other coaches, see who's playing right now, and join live games to log plays as a co-coach.
โ๏ธ
Settings
Dark mode (great for sunny sidelines), roster import from photo or CSV, game defaults, and data management. Most coaches set this once and never touch it again.
Quick facts
๐ฑ Add to Home Screen: In Safari tap the Share button (box with arrow) โ "Add to Home Screen" โ Add. On Android tap โฎ โ "Add to Home Screen". LiveGrid opens like a native app with no browser address bar taking up your screen space.
First time opening the app
Demo mode vs real account
The demo at livegrid.netlify.app drops you straight into the app with sample data โ no login needed. You'll see the Dolphins roster with 7 players and 3 completed games already loaded so you can explore right away.
In the full app (coming soon), you'll create an account with your email and password. Your data syncs to the cloud so it's on every device.
Creating your team
Set up your team first
Before adding players or games, create your team so everything connects properly.
1
Tap the team pill at the top of My Team
It shows your current team name or "My Team" if none exists yet
2
Tap "+ New Team"
Opens the team creation form
3
Enter team name and pick an emoji
Example: "Dolphins ๐ฌ" or "Cowboys ๐ค " โ the emoji shows in the app and in share messages
4
Set your division
Example: "Youth 5v5" or "3rd/4th Grade" โ appears in league standings and PDFs
5
Tap Create Team
Your team appears as the active pill. If you coach multiple teams, tap the pill to switch between them anytime.
Adding your schedule
Add a game manually
1
My Team โ Schedule โ tap "+ Game"
Red-orange button in the top right corner
2
Select Home Team
Tap your team from the dropdown or type a team name in the text field
3
Select Away Team
Type the opponent's name โ it doesn't need to be in the system
4
Set date, time, and venue
Tap the date field โ date picker opens. Same for time. Venue is a free text field for the field name or address.
5
Choose game type
Regular Season ยท Playoff ยท Tournament ยท Scrimmage ยท Practice โ affects how the game appears in your History
6
Tap Save Game or Save & Start Now
"Save Game" adds it to your schedule. "Save & Start Now" opens the pre-game setup immediately for a game already in progress.
Import from CSV or Excel
Go to My Team โ Schedule โ tap "Import Excel/CSV". Select your file. LiveGrid reads the columns automatically.
Required columns: home_team, away_team, event_time, event_name. Optional: location, field, quarter_length, num_periods, type, format.
A preview shows each row with a green โ for valid rows and a red โ ๏ธ with an explanation for any issues. Fix your file and re-import โ takes seconds.
๐ Schedule vs League rule: Importing in My Team โ Schedule puts games in your team's schedule only. Importing in the League tab puts games in the league schedule only. They are 100% separate and never cross over.
Adding players
Add a player โ full walkthrough
1
My Team โ Roster โ tap "+ Player"
Red-orange button in the top right. Opens the Add Player form in a sheet that slides up from the bottom.
2
Add a profile photo (optional but recommended)
Tap the large circular zone at the top with the ๐ท icon. Opens your phone camera roll. After selecting, the photo crops to a circle immediately so you can see how it looks. Photos make it much faster to identify players during live game logging โ especially for assistant coaches who may not know every player's name.
3
Enter the player's full name
First and last name. This is how they appear in the play log, stats leaderboard, game summaries, and share messages. First name appears on the player chip during games.
4
Jersey number (optional)
Many youth flag football teams don't use jersey numbers. If you leave it blank, the player shows their name only โ no "?" or placeholder. If you add a number it appears before their name in the chip: "#7 Marcus".
5
Select their position(s) โ this matters a lot
Tap one or more position chips: QB ยท RB ยท WR ยท DB ยท LB ยท Flex. You can select multiple. A player who plays QB on offense and DB on defense should have both selected. This determines which groups they appear in on the depth chart and how their stats break down by position.
โญ Multi-position players appear in ALL selected groups on the depth chart
6
Toggle "Mark as Starter"
Starters get an โญ badge in the roster list and appear first in their position group on the depth chart. Toggle this on for your starting lineup before the season begins. You can change it anytime.
7
Assign to a team
If you coach multiple teams (e.g. 3rd grade AND 4th grade), assign the player to the correct team. Their stats only pull from games where their assigned team plays.
8
Tap ADD TO ROSTER
Player appears in the roster list immediately with their photo or jersey box. Their name chip also appears instantly in the Log Game screen player chips row โ ready for the next game.
โญ Multi-position example: Marcus plays QB on offense and DB on defense. Select both QB and DB chips. He shows in the QB group AND the DB group on the depth chart. In his player detail panel, his stats split by position โ "As QB: 4 TDs, 8 completions" and "As DB: 6 flag pulls, 1 INT" separately.
Editing players
Edit any player anytime
In the roster list, find the player and tap the โ๏ธ button on the right side of their row. The same form opens pre-filled with all their current information. Change anything you need โ name correction, add jersey number, update positions, swap photo, change starter status โ and tap SAVE CHANGES.
Position changes update instantly: If Marcus switches from QB to RB mid-season, change his position and the depth chart rebuilds immediately. He disappears from the QB group and appears in the RB group. His existing QB stats stay in the history โ the change is forward-only.
Player detail panel
Tap a player name to see full stats
Tap anywhere on a player row (not the โ๏ธ button โ that opens the editor) to slide up their detail panel. Everything shown here is calculated live from actual play logs โ not manually entered.
๐
Offense stats
Touchdowns (broken into Pass TD / Rec TD / Rush TD / Scramble TD / Trick Play TD separately) ยท Rushes ยท Completions ยท Receptions ยท Extra Points made
๐ก๏ธ
Defense stats
Flag Pulls ยท Interceptions ยท Pick Sixes ยท Safeties ยท Missed Flags ยท Sacks โ all from play logs
๐ฏ
By Position breakdown
For multi-position players, stats split into "As QB", "As DB" etc. Shows exactly what they contributed at each role.
๐
Recent plays
Last 5 plays involving this player โ with colored tag badges, play description, game clock time, and which game it was from.
Roster overview tiles
3 stat tiles at the top of Roster
๐ฅ
Players
Total players currently on your roster. Updates instantly when you add or remove a player.
๐
Record (W-L)
Wins and losses calculated from completed games ONLY. Games on your upcoming schedule are never counted. Tap a completed game card in History and you'll see it contributed to this record.
๐
Total TDs
Combined touchdowns from all completed games โ includes pass TDs, rush TDs, receiving TDs, pick sixes, scramble TDs, and trick play TDs. All counted together.
Moving players between teams
Move a player to a different team
In the roster list, tap the Move โ button on the right side of a player row (next to the โ๏ธ button). A sheet shows all your teams. Tap the destination team. The player transfers immediately โ their historical stats stay with the games they played in.
Starting a game
How games start
Find your game in My Team โ Schedule and tap the โถ Start button on the game card. The Pre-Game Setup sheet slides up โ you configure the game here before any logging begins. Nothing starts until you tap Start Game at the bottom.
You can also tap "+ Game" โ fill in details โ tap "Save & Start Now" if the game is already in progress and you need to start logging immediately.
League type โ set this first
๐ง Youth vs ๐ Adult
Tapping either button auto-fills ALL the settings below it. You can override any individual setting after โ the league type just gets you to the right defaults instantly.
๐ง
Youth โ tap for most flag football leagues
Auto-fills: 5 players per side ยท 2 Halves ยท 15 min periods
Best for: YMCA, recreational, school, 5v5 youth flag leagues
๐
Adult โ tap for adult recreational leagues
Auto-fills: 7 players per side ยท 2 Halves ยท 25 min periods
Best for: adult leagues, 7v7 formats, competitive flag
Team names
Confirm who's playing
Both team name fields pre-fill from your schedule card. Edit them here if either name is wrong or abbreviated. These names appear on the scoreboard during the game, in the spectator link parents open, in the play log, and in all share messages and PDFs after the game.
Get the names right here so you don't have to correct them mid-game.
Players per side
4v4 ยท 5v5 ยท 6v6 ยท 7v7 ยท 8v8
Select the format for this specific game. This sets the format label on the game summary and in PDFs. It doesn't limit how many players you can have on your roster โ it just records the game format.
First possession
Who gets the ball first?
๐
Home Team
Home team starts with possession. The red-orange dot appears on their row in the scoreboard. Play flows from there.
๐
Away Team
Away team gets the ball first. Everything else works the same.
๐ช
Coin Toss
The app randomly picks Home or Away and shows a toast message: "๐ช Dolphins wins the toss โ first possession!" Great for real game situations where you actually flip a coin โ just confirm the result here.
Period format and length
Period Format โ 2 Halves or 4 Quarters
Most youth flag football uses 2 Halves. Select 4 Quarters if your league uses that format. This controls when the half/quarter counter changes in the scoreboard โ it doesn't change any scoring or possession logic.
Period Length โ 10, 15, 20, or 25 minutes
The game clock starts at this value when you tap Start. If your league plays 20-minute halves, select 20 min. You can manually adjust the clock during the game using the โ and + buttons if needed.
Summary bar
Double-check before you start
As you select settings, a summary bar updates in real time at the bottom of the setup sheet: ๐ง Youth ยท 5v5 ยท 2 Halves ยท 15 min periods
Confirm everything looks right in that bar before tapping Start Game. It's your last chance to catch a wrong setting before the game begins.
โถ Tap Start Game: The scoreboard loads with your chosen period length. Player chips populate with your roster. Play tabs show your team names. You're ready to log the very first play.
The scoreboard
What you see at the top
The scoreboard stays compact at the very top of the screen so your play buttons are always visible below it without scrolling. Every element updates automatically when you log plays.
NEW โ Score Only Mode
๐ Full โ ๐ Stats toggle
Tap the ๐ Full button in the scoreboard row to switch to Score Only Mode. Everything disappears except the scoreboard and the Touches bar. Great for:
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง
Casual games where you just want the score
Hand the phone to a parent to track score without them accidentally tapping play buttons
๐
Fast-paced moments
When the game is moving too fast to log every play โ just track the score and come back to full mode when things slow down
๐บ
Sideline display
Prop your phone on the bench in Score Only Mode so players and parents can see the score at a glance from a distance
Tap ๐ Stats to switch back to full mode with all play buttons and tabs restored.
NEW โ Touches Bar
The Touches Column โ your mid-game coaching tool
A dark navy bar sits just below the scoreboard showing every player's Touches = Rushes + Catches combined. Updates automatically after every play you log. No tapping required.
๐ด
Zero touches = NEEDS BALL (shown in red-orange)
Any player with 0 touches glows red-orange with a "NEEDS BALL" label. Glance down between plays and instantly know who hasn't touched the ball this drive.
๐
Sorted highest to lowest
Players who have touched the ball the most appear on the left. Players who need the ball appear on the right in red. Left to right = most involved to least involved.
โก
Updates live after every play
Log a rush for Devon โ his count goes from 0 to 1 and the red-orange NEEDS BALL label disappears immediately. No manual refresh needed.
๐ Coaching scenario: It's the 3rd quarter. You glance at the Touches bar and see Devon is at 0 while Marcus has 6. You know immediately to call a play that gets Devon the ball โ without pulling out a clipboard or doing math in your head.
Scoreboard elements explained
๐ด Possession dot
The glowing red-orange dot shows which team currently has the ball. The team with the dot is on offense โ their tab is selected automatically. Flips automatically after touchdowns/XP, interceptions, pick sixes, safeties, and No Good plays. Tap โ Flip anytime to manually override if possession changes for any other reason.
โ and + score buttons
Tap the minus or plus buttons beside each score to manually adjust if you logged the wrong score or need to correct something the play buttons didn't handle. These only change the displayed score โ they don't create a play log entry.
Down & Distance (2&10)
Updates automatically after every play. The โ and + buttons let you manually adjust the down number if something was logged incorrectly. When a play advances the down past 4th, a dialog appears asking: First Down Converted or Turnover on Downs โ choose the right one and the down resets or possession flips accordingly.
โฑ Game clock
Starts at your chosen period length (e.g. 15:00). Tap โท Start to run it. Tap โธ Pause to stop. The clock automatically adjusts if your phone screen locks during the game โ it records when it paused and subtracts the elapsed time when you come back, so the clock always reflects real game time.
Half counter
Shows which half (or quarter if you selected 4 Quarters). Use the V and ฮ buttons to move between periods. Changes automatically when the clock hits zero if you have that option enabled.
The three tabs
Actions ยท Log ยท ๐ค Share
๐ฎ
Actions tab โ where you spend 95% of game time
Player chips across the top, offense/defense/penalty play tabs in the middle, and play buttons below. Every play you log comes from here.
๐
Log tab โ full play-by-play
Every logged play in reverse order (newest at top) with colored tag badges, player names, clock times, and a description. Undo button at the top removes the most recent play completely.
๐ค
Share tab โ spectator link and coach invite
Copy the spectator link to send to parents, and invite an assistant coach to log plays alongside you. Both sections have Text, Gmail, Email, and Copy buttons.
Player chips
Pre-select a player before the snap
The horizontal scrollable row of chips shows your entire roster. Each chip shows the player's first name (and jersey number if they have one) with a small colored position badge.
How to use them efficiently: Right before the snap โ while you're watching the play develop โ tap the ball carrier's chip to pre-select them. Then the moment the play happens, tap the play button. The player picker skips the selection step entirely and goes straight to confirm. This is the fastest way to log โ gets you from play to logged in under 3 seconds.
Tap OFF chip to deselect. If you forget to pre-select, no problem โ the player picker opens normally when you tap the play button.
Play tabs โ Offense and Defense
The offense/defense tabs show your team names
The two main play tabs are labeled with your actual team names: "๐ Dolphins" for offense and "๐ก๏ธ Cowboys" for defense. Tap the appropriate tab for the current situation โ the possession dot tells you who has the ball, so who's on offense.
The Penalty tab is always available regardless of who has the ball โ penalties can happen any time.
Ending the game
๐ End Game โ step by step
1
Tap ๐ End in the scoreboard row
Clock stops automatically. A confirmation sheet slides up showing the final score in large text.
2
Review and confirm the score
If the score is wrong, tap Cancel, fix it with the โ + buttons on the scoreboard, and tap End again.
3
Select Win / Loss / Tie
The app auto-selects based on which team is yours and the current score. Override if needed โ the auto-selection assumes the first team named is you.
4
Tap "End Game & See Summary"
Game saves to History instantly. Schedule card marks โ
Completed with the final score. Score resets to 0-0. Clock resets. Play log clears. You're ready for the next game.
5
Game Summary overlay
Shows: Final score ยท Top scorers with TD counts ยท Defensive highlights ยท Team stat totals ยท Share buttons (Gmail, Text, Email, Copy) ยท Download PDF button
โบ Restart โ what it does and when to use it
Tap โบ Restart when you started the wrong game, typed the wrong team names, or need to completely start over. A confirmation sheet warns you that all plays will be lost.
When confirmed: score resets to 0-0, clock resets, all plays clear, possession resets to Home. The LIVE badge in the League tab disappears. The game card in your schedule goes back to Upcoming. You're returned to the My Team schedule screen.
โ ๏ธ Restart clears all plays permanently. Completed games in History are NOT affected. Only the current in-progress game session is cleared.

Stat attribution: QB gets +1 Pass TD and +1 Total TD. Receiver gets +1 Rec TD and +1 Total TD. Both show in the leaderboard separately โ Marcus might lead in Pass TDs while Tyler leads in Rec TDs.
๐ Rush Touchdown
Tap Touchdown โ select Run โ tap the ball carrier โ logged.
Stat attribution: Ball carrier gets +1 Rush TD and +1 Total TD. The Rush stat also increments because a rushing TD is still a rush attempt.
๐ฅ QB Scramble Touchdown
Tap Touchdown โ select Scramble โ tap the QB โ logged.
Stat attribution: QB gets +1 Scramble TD and +1 Total TD. Scramble TDs are tracked separately from regular Rush TDs. This lets you see how often your QB breaks contain for a score vs handing off or running designed plays.
๐ญ Trick Play Touchdown
Use this when any non-QB player throws the ball for a touchdown โ a WR halfback pass, a RB throwback, any trick play. The picker has no position filter โ any player can be the thrower.
Tap Touchdown โ select Trick Play โ tap the thrower (e.g. Tyler the WR) โ tap the receiver (e.g. Devon the RB) โ logged.
Stat attribution: Thrower (Tyler) gets +1 Pass TD and +1 Total TD. Receiver (Devon) gets +1 Rec TD and +1 Total TD. Correct credit given even when a non-QB throws.
Special plays โ extra detail
๐จ Pick Six โ both stats automatically
When Isaiah intercepts and runs it back for 6 points, tap Pick Six and select Isaiah. He automatically gets credited with:
PICK SIXINTERCEPTION
Both tags appear in the play log. Isaiah appears in the Interceptions leaderboard AND the Pick Six leaderboard. The defending team gets +6 on the scoreboard. Possession flips immediately. Down resets to 1st & 10.
๐ก๏ธ Safety โ both stats automatically
When Jordan tackles the QB in the end zone for a safety, tap Safety and select Jordan. He gets:
SAFETYFLAG PULL
+2 to the defending team. Possession flips. Down resets to 1st & 10. Jordan shows in both the Safety leaderboard and the Flag Pulls leaderboard.
๐ซ Missed Flag โ log multiple at once
When multiple defenders miss the flag on the same play, you can log all of them in one action instead of tapping the button multiple times.
1
Tap Missed Flag
A multi-select sheet opens with your entire roster listed
2
Tap each player who missed
Each tapped player highlights in red-orange with a โ checkmark. The counter at the bottom shows: "3 players selected: Devon, Marcus, Jordan"
3
Tap "๐ซ Log Missed Flags (3 players)"

๐ The #1 rule to remember: The League tab and the My Team Schedule tab are completely separate. Games imported to My Team โ Schedule only show there. Games imported to the League tab only show there. They never mix, never cross over, and never affect each other's game counts.
Importing the league schedule
Import from any source
1
Tap "๐ Import Schedule" in the League tab
Must be in the League tab (not My Team). The import button here goes to the league, not your personal schedule.
2
Choose your source
๐ Upload Excel or CSV from your device files ยท ๐ Import from Google Sheets using a published CSV link
3
For TeamSideline or any league website
Take a screenshot โ send it to LiveGrid's photo import (coming soon) ยท OR manually create a CSV with the games
4
For Google Sheets
Open your schedule spreadsheet โ File โ Share โ Publish to web โ change "Web Page" to "CSV" โ Publish โ copy the link โ paste it in the app โ tap Fetch & Import
5
Review the preview
Each row shows a โ (valid) or โ ๏ธ (column issue). The total count shows "Found 20 valid games". Fix any issues in your file and re-import.
6
Tap "Import X Games"
All games appear in the League Schedule immediately, sorted by date.
7
Select your team
A "Which team are you coaching?" prompt appears showing all teams found in the import. Tap yours to connect your roster to those games.
League standings
Auto-calculated โ zero manual entry
The standings table builds automatically from your completed games. Every time you end a game, the standings update immediately โ W, L, T, GP, and PCT recalculate for every team.
Sorted by winning percentage (PCT) with point differential as the tiebreaker โ same logic most youth leagues use. Your team highlights in red-orange with a left accent bar so you can spot it instantly.
The table only counts games where both teams are in the imported league schedule โ it cross-references your completed game history with the league game cards to determine results.
Inviting coaches to the league
Invite any coach โ 3 steps
1
Step 1 โ Contact info
Coach's name ยท Phone number or email ยท Their team name (optional โ they confirm it when they accept). This generates a unique invite link for this specific coach.
2
Step 2 โ Assign a role
Head Coach: Full access โ import schedule, add and edit roster, log plays, view standings, invite other coaches.
Assistant Coach: Limited access โ log plays and edit roster only. Cannot import schedules, delete games, or manage the league.
3
Step 3 โ Send the invite
Four options: ๐ฌ Text (opens Messages with invite pre-written) ยท ๐ง Gmail ยท โ๏ธ Email App ยท ๐ Copy Link. The invite message explains exactly what the coach needs to do after accepting โ so you don't have to explain it yourself.
After the coach accepts
1
They open the link and see the Accept Invite screen
Shows their assigned role and a text field to confirm or edit their team name
2
They tap "Accept & Set Up My Team"
Navigates to the League tab with a setup checklist of 3 tasks
3
They complete the checklist
1) Import their schedule ยท 2) Add their players to the roster ยท 3) Optional: import roster from Excel. Each step has a shortcut button that jumps directly to the right screen.
Live game collaboration โ up to 4 coaches
๐ด LIVE badge on game cards
When any coach starts a game from the League tab, that game card immediately transforms โ a pulsing ๐ด LIVE badge appears, the border turns red-orange, and the current live score shows in red. Every coach in the league sees this the moment they open the League tab.
Join Game โ step by step
1
Tap "๐ Join Game โ Log Plays" on the LIVE card
A role picker sheet slides up showing the current live score and 4 role buttons
2
Review the live score at the top
Shows both team names with the current score โ confirms you're joining the right game
3
Select your role
๐ Head Coach โ Dolphins ยท ๐ฅ Asst Coach โ Dolphins ยท ๐ Head Coach โ Cowboys ยท ๐ฅ Asst Coach โ Cowboys. Your team's slot shows a "Suggested" label in red-orange โ tap it.
4
Tap "Join & Log for [Team]"
Navigates to Log Game screen. Your team is set as Home (from your perspective). The live score loads into the scoreboard. Player chips load from your roster. You're ready to log immediately โ no additional setup needed.
๐ฅ Up to 4 coaches at once: Head Coach (Dolphins) logs offense. Asst Coach (Dolphins) logs defense. Head Coach (Cowboys) logs their own offense. Asst Coach (Cowboys) covers their defense. All 4 are logging the same game simultaneously โ each from their own team's perspective.
Two places to find stats
My Team โ Stats sub-tab vs Stats tab
My Team โ Stats sub-tab: Stats specific to your active team. Best for quick in-season reference. Same three sub-tabs (Team, Individual, Depth Chart).
Stats tab (bar chart icon in bottom nav): Full season view with more filtering options. Same data but with game filter pills and better sorting. Use this for deeper analysis.
Team sub-tab
Season summary tiles
Three tiles at the top: Wins (green) ยท Losses (red) ยท Games Played. All three only count completed games โ games you officially ended with the End Game button. Upcoming schedule games never count toward these totals.
Offense table โ Total and Per Game
Shows two columns for each stat โ the season total and the per-game average. Per Game divides by the number of completed games automatically.
Stats tracked: Touchdowns total ยท Rushes ยท Completions ยท Attempts ยท Extra Points made ยท Touchdown breakdown (Pass TDs, Rush TDs, Rec TDs).
Defense table โ Total and Per Game
Flag Pulls ยท Interceptions ยท Pick Sixes ยท Safeties ยท Missed Flags ยท Sacks.
Important: Pick Sixes count in BOTH the Pick Six row AND the Interceptions row โ because a pick six is also an interception. This matches real football stat logic. Don't be surprised if your INT total is higher than expected โ it includes pick sixes.
โ๏ธ Edit Stats โ add a missing play after the game
If you forgot to log a play during a game, tap the Edit Stats button (top right of the Team sub-tab). You'll see a form to:
1
Select the play type
All the same play types as the live logging screen โ Touchdown (with all 4 types), Flag Pull, Interception, etc.
2
Select the player (and receiver if needed)
For pass plays, pick both QB and receiver. Same attribution logic as live logging.
3
Choose which game
A dropdown shows all completed games with their dates and scores. Pick the game the missed play was from.
4
Tap "โ
Add This Play"
The play is added to that game's play log. All stat views โ Team totals, Individual leaderboard, Player detail panels โ update immediately. No reload needed.
Players (Individual) sub-tab
Sortable leaderboard
Sort by any stat using the filter pills at the top:
Total TDs
Pass TDs
Rec TDs
Rushes
Completions
Flag Pulls
INTs
Each row shows: rank number ยท navy jersey box with number ยท player name ยท position badge ยท stat count. Tap any player row to open their full detail panel with all season stats, by-position breakdown, and recent plays.
Game filter pills
Above the leaderboard, filter pills let you narrow to a specific game: "All Games" (default) ยท one pill per completed game labeled with the score (e.g. "๐ Dolphins 21โ14"). Tap a game pill to see who performed best in that specific game โ great for giving out game ball recognition after.
Depth Chart sub-tab
Auto-builds from your roster โ no manual setup
The depth chart reads your roster and groups players by position automatically. Change a player's position in the Roster tab and they move to the new group immediately. No manual chart editing needed.
๐จ
Color-coded position groups
QB = steel blue ยท RB = red-orange ยท WR = green ยท DB = purple ยท LB = orange ยท Flex = gray. Each group has a colored header bar.
โญ
STARTER badge on the #1 player
The first player listed in each group gets a green STARTER badge. Use the โ โ arrow buttons to reorder players within each group โ the order saves automatically and persists next session.
๐ฅ
Multi-position players appear in all their groups
A QB/RB player shows in both the QB group and the RB group. Each appearance can be reordered independently โ he might be #1 QB but #3 RB.
๐จ๏ธ
Print button
Tap the ๐จ๏ธ Print button (top right) to open a printable two-column depth chart in a new tab. Shows all position groups, player names, jersey numbers, and starter badges. Auto-triggers the print dialog. Great for laminating a sideline reference card.
History tab
Every completed game
My Team โ History shows every game you've ended with the End Game button. Each card shows:
๐
Date, teams, final score, result badge
๐ Win (green) ยท โ Loss (red) ยท ๐ค Tie (gray)
โญ
Top scorers preview
Top 2-3 players with their stat contributions for that game
๐
Full Stats button
Opens a full stat overlay for that specific game โ every player, every play type, everything logged
๐ค
Share buttons
๐ง Gmail ยท ๐ฌ Text ยท โ๏ธ Email ยท ๐ Copy โ resend the game recap anytime
๐
Download PDF
Re-download the game summary PDF for any completed game at any time
Use the filter pills to show All ยท ๐ Wins only ยท โ Losses only. Use the ๐ Clear All button to delete all game history (asks for confirmation first).
New features
๐ Score Only Mode for parent hand-off: Before handing your phone to a parent to track the score, tap the ๐ Full button to switch to Score Only Mode. The play buttons disappear so they can't accidentally log a fake touchdown. Tap ๐ Stats to take it back and resume logging.
๐ Check the Touches bar every drive: The navy Touches bar below the scoreboard updates live. Any player in red with "NEEDS BALL" hasn't had a rush or catch yet this game. Make it a habit to glance at it every 3-4 plays so no player gets forgotten โ especially your younger or quieter players who don't demand the ball.
Before game day
โ
Add players the night before: Build your full roster the evening before game day so player chips are populated when the game starts. If you realize mid-game someone is missing, you CAN add them during the game in the Roster tab โ they appear in chips immediately โ but it's faster to have everyone ready.
๐ฑ Fully charge your phone and bring a backup: Logging a full game keeps your screen on continuously for 30+ minutes. Most phones lose 15-20% battery doing this. Bring a portable battery pack. A flat phone mid-game means lost plays and stats.
๐ Turn on Dark Mode before sunny games: Go to Settings โ Appearance โ Dark Mode. The navy dark theme is significantly more readable in direct sunlight on a football sideline than the white default. Coaches who used the app in the sun reported this made a huge difference.
๐ค Send the spectator link BEFORE kickoff: Go to Log Game โ Share tab as soon as you start the game setup. Copy the spectator link and drop it in the parent group chat. Parents have it before the first snap. No one has to text you for the score during the game.
During the game
โก Pre-select chips for speed: The fastest logging method: tap a player chip BEFORE the snap while watching the play develop, then tap the play button the moment it ends. The player picker step is skipped entirely โ you go straight to confirm. Gets you from play to logged in under 3 seconds. This is how you keep up with a fast-paced game.
๐ฅ Use two coaches for defense: One person logging every offense and defense play in real time is hard. Use the Coach Invite (Share tab) to get your assistant coach logging defense plays while you focus on offense. You both see the same play log and scoreboard. The best game-day setups use two phones.
โฉ๏ธ Undo is your safety net: If you log the wrong play โ tapped the wrong player, chose the wrong play type โ tap the Log tab and hit Undo immediately. It removes the most recent play completely: score reverts, possession reverts, down reverts, play disappears from the log. You can undo multiple times to go back several plays.
๐ Don't panic at 4th down: When a play would push you past 4th down, the app pauses and asks: "First Down Converted" or "Turnover on Downs." Take a breath, tap the right one. First Down resets to 1st & 10. Turnover flips possession and resets the down. The app handles the rest.
โธ Pause the clock on stoppages: Tap the Pause button during long injury timeouts, halftime, or any game stoppage. The clock freezes. Tap Start when play resumes. The clock auto-corrects for background time (screen lock) but you still need to manually pause for intentional stoppages.
After the game
๐ Download the PDF immediately: Right after the Game Summary appears, tap Download PDF before navigating away. The summary is always accessible from History later, but getting the PDF while it's in front of you takes one tap and saves it to your phone for easy sharing.
โ๏ธ Fix missing plays right after the game: While the game is still fresh in your memory, go to Stats โ Team โ Edit Stats and add any plays you missed logging live. It's much easier to remember "Isaiah had that pick six in the 2nd half" right after the game than a week later.
๐ Stats need a second to calculate: Right after ending a game, tap the Stats tab and wait a moment for everything to recalculate. The per-game averages divide by the new completed game count. If the numbers look wrong, pull down to refresh or tap another tab and come back.
Common mistakes to avoid
โ Importing schedule in the wrong tab
If you want games in the League tab, import from the League tab. If you import from My Team โ Schedule, they go to your personal schedule and won't appear in league standings. Can't move them after โ you'd need to delete and re-import in the right place.
โ Closing the app without ending the game
If you just close the browser after the game, the game doesn't save to History. Always tap ๐ End โ select result โ Save. That's what moves it to History, marks the schedule card Completed, updates standings, and triggers the share/PDF options.
โ Expecting upcoming games to count as "played"
If you have 3 games on your schedule but only completed 1, Games Played shows 1 โ not 3. Upcoming schedule games never count toward any stat totals. This is by design so your season stats are always accurate.
โ Tapping Restart when you meant to just fix the score
Restart clears everything permanently. If you just need to fix the score, use the โ and + buttons on the scoreboard. Use Restart only if you genuinely need to start the entire game over from scratch.
